About Bio-Volt

Executive Summary for the Avinya'27 Energy Challenge

The Challenge: Solar vs. Soil

India is aggressively expanding its renewable energy capacity. To save space, solar panels are increasingly being built directly over active farmland - a practice known as Agrivoltaics. However, there is a massive hidden problem.

Standard solar panels create permanent shade and lower the temperature of the soil below them. This unnatural change kills off beneficial soil bacteria, particularly the bacteria responsible for nitrogen-fixation. If the bacteria die, the soil degrades, and the farmer's crop yield collapses. Furthermore, storing the generated solar power currently requires expensive Lithium-ion batteries, which rural farming communities simply cannot afford.

My Solution: Smart Biology & Cheap Storage

I designed Project Bio-Volt as a software and infrastructure concept to bridge the gap between maximum energy generation and agricultural preservation.

1. AI-Driven Soil Preservation

I am developing a computational model that calculates the exact angle and spacing of solar panels needed to generate electricity without destroying the soil's microclimate. By predicting how much shade a specific crop can handle, my system ensures the beneficial bacteria survive and the harvest is protected.

2. Sodium-Ion (Na-ion) Battery Routing

Instead of relying on imported, high-cost Lithium, my system logic is designed to route generated power into stationary Sodium-ion batteries. Na-ion is drastically cheaper, highly abundant, and perfectly suited for rural micro-grids where weight is not an issue, but cost is everything.

The Core Benefit: Energy companies get the land they need to generate massive amounts of solar power, and farmers keep their crop yields intact while gaining a dedicated, low-cost power grid for irrigation and cold storage.
